Colombia Travel Operator Reaffirms Its Commitment to Sustainability Through TEBU Biodiversity Credits

Medellín, March 4, 2025
As part of its genuine commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation,
Colombia Travel Operator has become the first inbound tourism company to take
concrete action on environmental compensation through the acquisition of TEBU
(Terrasos Biodiversity Unit) biodiversity credits.
Each participant of this fam trip, held within the framework of Procolombia’s business
roundtable (Colombia Travel Mart 2025), received a gift equivalent to 10 square meters
of protected biodiversity, ensuring that a total of 100 square meters will be preserved
over the next 30 years. This effort was carried out through Terrasos’ TEBU, an innovative
mechanism that guarantees the effective conservation of strategic ecosystems in
Colombia. Currently, Colombia Travel Operator already has nearly one hectare of
protected forest, reaffirming its positive impact on environmental preservation.
Colombia Travel Operator has embraced sustainability as a fundamental pillar of its
operations, going beyond a mere marketing strategy or ‘greenwashing.’ This initiative
reflects a real commitment to biodiversity protection and the development of
responsible tourism, aligned with global conservation and sustainability principles.
Through initiatives like this, the company reaffirms its purpose of generating a positive
impact on the environment and promoting responsible practices within the tourism
sector.
