We are a group of 4 from Toronto & Hong Kong taking a 7 days trip around Colombia in November 2018. We joined an amazing company called Colombia Travel Operator. The trip was tailor-made to us which covered places like Bogotá, Coffee Area, Medellin, Cartagena and Mompox. Kelly Botero, the charming beautiful young lady who we have corresponded since day 1 and till the end of the trip has been fascinating.
Zipaquirá Tour
Trade the busy city for a true feat of engineering -- the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá
Just one hour outside of the Bogotá city limits to the north lies the colonial town of Zipaquirá. This city’s claim to fame is its subterranean salt cathedral built inside of a salt mine, but its old-world architecture and city center will charm you even further.

Overview of your tour
Outside of Bogotá, you’ll find Zipaquirá — an indigenous word meaning “city of our father” — and its popular tourist destination, the salt cathedral. Upon leaving Bogotá, we’ll see various smaller villages on our way to Zipaquirá. We’ll first explore the old town of Zipaquirá and admire its original architecture and old colonial atmosphere. Then comes the time to see the engineering masterpiece more than 180 m (590 ft) below the Earth’s surface. Constructed by Colombian miners, this cathedral will fill you with a sense of majesty, as it’s the perfect combination of engineering and art. Your guide will explain how miners worked in this area and give you time to explore this unique locale yourself.

We are proud to say that we have an incredible team with a wide array of languages. In total, we can offer tours in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian. We also have a Russian interpreter that can come along and translate for us. Please indicate your language preference upon booking (languages other than English and Spanish come at an additional cost).
It can get a bit chilly, so we recommend that you bring a light layer to put on as we enter the mine.

I would like to give special thanks to Kelly for planning my itinerary for Cartagena and Bogota – she also arranged my airport transfers in both cities, my full day tour in Cartagena was amazing! We fell in love with the walled city, such beautiful buildings and great restaurants. Kelly gave us some really good restaurant recommendations and we also enjoyed the trip to fort San Felipe.
Amazing tour and amazing tour guide (Julio)! My first tour in Colombia and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The sites were amazing and the food was incredible. Thanks to our guide Julio for going above and beyond to making sure we had a great time.
This tour was amazing! We ended up getting our own private tour with Julio (awesome guy). The ride was fun, great conversations, a lot of history and knowledge…
We had a great time on this tour. We were only two persons in the tour and our guide Juan Carlos was fantastic…
