Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Medellín

Upon your arrival to Medellín, our staff will collect you at the airport and help you get settled in. We’ll give you the day to rest up from your flight before starting our adventure tomorrow!

Day 2: Medellín to Caño Cristales
Breakfast & dinner included | flight to La Macarena included | explore La Macarena

Our adventure begins with a 11:20AM transport to the Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport for a flight to La Macarena (included), where we will be…

…spending the entirety of our trip. Depending on what time we arrive, we will either take a 40-minute cruise along the Guayabero River to enjoy the scenery and the wildlife or a 25-minute car ride through the expansive plains of La Macarena. A dinner and an early night will be necessary for us to prepare for our hiking-intensive trip ahead!

Day 3: Caño Cristales
Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included | Caño Cristales Pianos trail

Before we can begin our outdoor adventure in La Macarena National Park, we will enjoy an orientation presentation from the environmental entities (PNN, CORMACARENA(opens in a new tab)) to…

…help us maintain the park as we explore it. Then, it’s anchors away! We set sail on the Guayabero River to enjoy the scenery for just under a half-hour, at which point we’ll hop onto some 4×4 vehicles and make our way to the Caño Cajuche. Lace-up your hiking books and let’s hit the Caño Cristales Pianos trail! Along the way, we’ll see plenty of incredible natural phenomena, like waterfalls and hidden channels. On our hike, we’ll find a nice spot to stop off the trail to enjoy our lunch, wrapped in a Bijao leaf (since plastic isn’t allowed into the park!). At the end of the day, we’ll head back to La Macarena for dinner and a much-needed rest.

Day 4: Caño Cristales
Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included | Sendero del Águila trail

Our 4x4s return us to the Caño Cajuche, where we head in a different direction toward Caño Cristales, this time taking the Sendero del Águila trail. Get ready a set of new sights and amazing creatures to see! This trail isn’t too long (just under 1.5 km), so we will have plenty of time for photos, lunch, and enjoying the raw nature that surrounds us.

Day 5: Caño Cristales
Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included | Sendero Pailones trail | evening folk show

Our third and last ecological hike of the trip comes to us on day 5. This time, we’re taking the Sendero Pailones trail, which will…

…lead us to Las Marimbas Hill and El Pailón Pool. We’ll have a bit shorter of a day out in the park today, since we have an evening event. At our evening folk show, we’ll not only sample local cuisine, but also we’ll enjoy music and dance performed by local Colombians. This is the perfect send-off from the magical escape of Caño Cristales and back to the big city.

Day 6: Caño Cristales to Medellín
Breakfast included | afternoon tour of Medellín

A morning flight will bring us back to the reality of Medellín. Once we settle in the hotel, we’ll embark on an afternoon tour of Medellín. We’ll see Botero Plaza, Barefoot Park, Pueblito Paisa, and so much more! Feel free to read more about it on our Medellín City Tour(opens in a new tab) page.

Day 7: Peñol Rock & Guatapé
Breakfast & lunch included | Peñol Rock | colorful Guatapé

Our final full day on this tour will bring us to one of Medellín’s most famous tourist destinations: Peñol Rock and Guatapé. This locale sits…

…about 2 hours outside of Medellín. While here, we’ll visit the Peñol Rock — a boulder standing 220 m high — so that you have time to climb it for incredible views of the countryside. We’ll head then to Guatapé, a picturesque town with plenty of life. Read more about what we’ll do on this tour by visiting our Peñol Rock & Guatapé Tour page. Once we get back to Medellín, we’ll give you the night off to explore the city more or just relax and enjoy your last night in Colombia.

Day 8: Medellín to airport
Breakfast included

Our time together has come to an end, so we’ll say our goodbyes and drop you off at the Medellín international airport so that you can get onto your next adventure.
