We are a group of 4 from Toronto & Hong Kong taking a 7 days trip around Colombia in November 2018. We joined an amazing company called Colombia Travel Operator. The trip was tailor-made to us which covered places like Bogotá, Coffee Area, Medellin, Cartagena and Mompox. Kelly Botero, the charming beautiful young lady who we have corresponded since day 1 and till the end of the trip has been fascinating.

The perfect day trip from Bogotá: a quaint colonial town
If you want to get deep into the colonial era in Colombia, visiting Villa de Leyva is the best way. Just three hours away from Bogotá, this village is home to the Boyaca Bridge, where the Colombian army fought the war against the Spanish and won the country’s independence. After a warm welcome from the town’s main square, you’ll enjoy a stroll around the town and maybe even sample a pastry from the local bakery. Then, it’s on to Infiernito, an old Muisca observatory and terracota house.

Overview of your tour
Once you leave Bogotá, your guide will recount the exact events of the war of independence. The Boyaca Bridge is one of our first stops. Once in Villa de Leyva, you’ll quickly see that this village is frozen in time, like a hidden treasure, due to the preserved Spanish-style architecture.
Upon arriving at Plaza Mayor, you’ll find yourself before the cathedral, where your guide will introduce you to Colombian history. Learn about it and ask him anything. We’ll then head to Infiernito, an ancient Muisca observatory, where you’ll learn how these people predicted the best time to harvest.
We’ll then give you some free time to enjoy lunch (ask your guide for recommendations if you’re lost!). After lunch, it’s off to the Pozos Azules — a gorgeous, blue water reservoir in the middle of the desert. After photographing and enjoying this natural beauty as much as you like, we’ll finish the tour with Casa Terracotta, one of the biggest pieces of pottery in the world.
It is quite a long trip, so we recommend you stay one night in the town. There are several great options, so if you’d like recommendations, please just let us know. We’d also be happy to arrange a 2-day package if you’d prefer — just get in touch with us.

I would like to give special thanks to Kelly for planning my itinerary for Cartagena and Bogota – she also arranged my airport transfers in both cities, my full day tour in Cartagena was amazing! We fell in love with the walled city, such beautiful buildings and great restaurants. Kelly gave us some really good restaurant recommendations and we also enjoyed the trip to fort San Felipe.
Amazing tour and amazing tour guide (Julio)! My first tour in Colombia and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The sites were amazing and the food was incredible. Thanks to our guide Julio for going above and beyond to making sure we had a great time.
This tour was amazing! We ended up getting our own private tour with Julio (awesome guy). The ride was fun, great conversations, a lot of history and knowledge…
We had a great time on this tour. We were only two persons in the tour and our guide Juan Carlos was fantastic…
