This experiential tour will take you by the Antiochian countryside where traditional families plant flowers while every year waiting to display them to the world during the annual flower fair held in August.

The tour begins as we head out of the city en route to Santa Elena, a town renowned for its artisanal floral works known as silleteras, which are par excellence. Before leaving the city, we pass through the traditional plaza of flowers, the old farmers market where rural commodities were once sold. If access to this site is not possible, we will surely be able to have contact with this kind of market close to our first stop. The trip will be driven on a nice road, arriving at Silletero Park to appreciate its sculptures. We continue to a typical cultivation of flowers, where we will encounter a silletera family. They will explain the whole process of building a “silleta“, the history of the word, “silleta” as well as their many categories: traditional, monumental and emblematic. Once the tour and explanation have ended, we move on to enjoy a typical lunch, which may be in the same farm or elsewhere if so desired. After lunch, we’ll have a cup of coffee to recharge our batteries and continue the tour.

We’ll head for the aerial cable station, where in the square we’ll make a little visit to the farmers markets. The farmers we will see working in the market are the very people who have grown the products, using organic methods for the production of jams and many other delicious foods. Here we will receive some brief information about the pre-Hispanic trails of the region. We board the metrocable to enjoy the scenery. The tour is approximately 30 minutes. It has only one exit station and one arrival. As the cable passes through native forest we can feel the fresh air flowing into the cabin. Arriving at the station we will not head down but rather continue onward to return to the Arvi Park. There, we will board our vehicle and return to the city after a wonderful day.
